The Tuohy Family's First Annual Welcome to Summer BBQ

Ever since we moved into our home in Hailey in July of 2004 we have been promising ourselves we'll have a BBQ. But with Brian's then work schedule (fighting wildfire fire peaks in the summer months) it always seemed an impossibility. But now that Brian has a new job (at ESS) with a much more predictable schedule, we were finally able to throw our BBQ.

Saturday, May 31st was the day. And, despite the fact we chose a day among the only two weeks of rain in Sun Valley, and that it rained every day before and every day after, the weather held out for us.

I decided to name it the Welcome to Summer BBQ (despite the possible dodgy weather) as I really love summer here - it's by far my favorite season. I especially love the first few weeks as we transition from a wet spring into a blazing hot summer. The wildlife is out (and not getting run over as much on our highway), the wildflowers are in full bloom, the grass is green, the Farmers' Market is coming and it's not too hot to take lots of long walks and enjoy it all.

50 odd people mingled in our spacious backyard and Brian performed admirably at the grill, and in the horseshoe pit he had created especially for the party.

Roll on next year, be sure to save the date in your calendars, Saturday, May 30 2009, for the Tuohy Family's Second Annual Welcome to Summer BBQ!!
