New York, New York

July 8 - July 13...

Owen and I joined Brian & his colleague Scott on their work trip to New York City and we had a blast! Owen's first plane ride went really well, we traveled on our own as we had booked a last minute flight, and the only really tricky bit was having to breastfeed while sitting in the middle seat between two huge guys - awkward. But otherwise, apart from the occasional cry due to tiredness and being cooped up for 8 hours, he did really, really well - a good forecast for our solo trip to London next month.

Owen and I had a great time exploring the city during the day while the boys worked and then they joined us at night to explore some more sights and the culinary delights of the big city. We spent a lot of time walking around the Village-up and down Bleecker Street and all around-as well as scrumming through Midtown, swanning around the Upper East Side and strolling across Central Park. At night we ate in Korea Town, Little Italy and a great little Belgian Place in the West Village, and we caught some of the classic sights: The Met Museum, The Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Times Sq. (our hotel was right on Times Sq, literally!). During the day I did a lot of window shopping (mainly 'cos I couldn't get the stroller in most places!). This was my fave part of the trip, just walking around and exploring places like Chelsea, SoHo (I really liked this spot, it reminded me a lot of London, I also loved the baby shop I found here called giggle) and the East Village (I had a great lunch at Friend of a Farmer on Irving Place). I'd never really had this kind of opportunity to just explore the city I was born in, and I discovered that I really, really loved it.

Here are some pictures and video from the trip, for more pictures click here:

Owen objected to each Italian restaurant we visited, deciding that crying was the best way to deal with his displeasure!
