About Bloomin' Time!

For our engagement present in December of 2004, Jerie, Brian's mum, gave us a beautiful Orchid. In full bloom it was a spectacular flower and we took great care of it. Over the past 4 years however it has sat in our kitchen as just a green and brown stalk. We've taken it to Orchid doctors who have told us that it will never bloom again as it's too dry in Idaho and we may as well just throw it out (one "expert" hacked off most of its leaves one time, we were terrified it would never bounce back).

But, as it has sentimental value we decided to keep it even if it was always going to be just a green and brown stalk. Since I've been home on maternity leave I've been taking extra special care of it and a week or so ago we noticed a bud... Now it has two beautiful blooms, a wonderful allegory for our marriage, our Orchid has created a new life just as we have.

So glad to see the orchid living on! Have a safe and great time in England. Looking forward to seeing Owen and the proud parents some time this year and all that hair that seems to have cropped up! Love, Grandparents Don & Jerie
