England: The Christening

Friday September 26, 2008

One of our mission's on this trip was to have Owen Baptised. So on our last day in England we invited friends and family to join us at St. Peter's Church in Shaftesbury (which is where I was christened - aged 26...). Unfortunately his godfather, Brent (Brian's brother), couldn't be there, but Owen wore the christening gown that Brian, Brent and their sister Kara were all christened in as a homage to his absent family. Godmother Henrie was able to be there and a very good family friend, Michael Clark stood in for Brent. Owen did admirably in front of a crowd of about 40 people, only sqwaking occasionally and taking the water very well. Unfortunately, he wouldn't wear the bonnet and insisted on eating the ribbons... it turns out his predescessors were a little younger when they were in it! Lesson learned. Thanks to my parents for throwing a fabulous celebration after the main event and to Great Aunt Alix for whipping up some of her famous culinary delights (mini meringues - yum!).
